Warhawkmx Race Team Rider Michael HeingartnerMichael Heingartner #894Warhawkmx is proud to have Michael Heingartner on our team racing the Budds Creek round of the 2009 Lucas Oils AMA Motocross Championship series in the 450 class. Michael will be talking the 450 class with a Suzuki RM250 2 stroke. Burrito calls Michael our " rocky balboa " rider as he is up against huge odds in the four stroke dominated class. We are sure there will be plenty of other 2 stroke bike supporters rooting Michael on as he fights to qualify at Budds Creek. Get to know Michael HeingartnerI was born in Auburn, Indiana on July 3rd, 1981 to Daniel and Carol Heingartner. My passion and love for Motorcycles started when I was issued my first AMA membership card at the age of one. I learned to ride a bicycle without training wheels at the age of three. I then started riding my Suzuki JR50, competing in my first race at the age of five. In the years to come, I started to expand towards BMX. I started racing BMX at the age of eight. Soon after, I qualified for the NBL National Championship in Kentucky in 1991 where I competed in the ten year old novice class. I won all 3 motos in my class and to this day, it is still one of my fondest memories. I began to focus on motocross around the age of thirteen. I just rode for fun during high school and I also worked part time for my parents at our Suzuki and Polaris dealership. Shortly after high school, my dad sold the business to a larger dealership and we both went to work for them. I continued to excel and moved up to the A class in 2001. However, late that fall, I had a horrendous accident practicing. When I completed therapy, I had not ridden a bike in over seven months. I bought a new CRF450 that fall and got my Pro license. I then competed in my first big Pro arenacross where I qualified and got 6th place. I was pumped. I was then invited to race in the Dutch Open SX, an international supercross event in Goes, Holland. It was a 125 only class, so I was a little nervous. I got to ride for JJS KTM on a pretty much full factory KTM125 race bike. I had a hard time adapting to the bike on the very small track. I raced on Friday night getting 7th and 9th place in my races. On Saturday, the big night, I started in last pretty much every qualifier and race and failed to make the main event. I was pretty bummed. That year I also raced three Supercross events and the Red Bud National. For the next 2 years, I was invited back to race in Holland. I met lots of awesome people along the way and got to see the whole country. I was also invited to race a round of the German SX series in Chemnitz, Germany in 2005. The last few years, I have just been racing locally, having fun. I met my Wife in July of 2006, and we were married on March 28th 2008, one of the happiest days of my life. We are also expecting our first child this fall, a Boy, named Aiden David Bryant Heingartner. I have also worked for a Water softener company called Aqua Systems since 2006 and I still help my dad when I can at his small independent motorcycle store in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I am very excited for the opportunity to race the Budds Creek national this year for Warhawk Powersports. I could not be more excited and have been working very hard since I got the news that I was the 2-stroke man. If everything goes well I can make the show.
